Feng shui is a little like astrology. Whether you actually believe in it (or not), learning its inner workings and understanding how it can impact your everyday life is somewhat fascinating. Whether we're talking new moons and planet alignments or bedroom colors and under-bed storage, the link between environment and energy is an abstract concept—but that doesn't mean that its concrete implications in everyday life need to be confusing as well.
Books, courses, and online resources are all terrific ways to learn more about feng shui in order to see your own environment with new eyes. A trained feng shui expert can provide in-depth treatment of your space, help in selecting a layout and furnishings, or calculate the best location for a home or business. The feng shui principles you use to invite positive chi into your life are as timeless as wind and water.
Using the Bagua, wind chimes made of bronze and metal are ideal for Northwest and west if that sector is lacking or missing. The same applies to bamboo or wooden chimes for the East and Southeast areas because those sectors are not suitable for wind chimes made of metal. The energy brought by wooden chimes are said to be less compared to its metal counterpart because the sound they make is less crisp.

So what is feng shui? “Feng shui (pronounced fung shway) is a design system for arranging your surroundings in harmony and balance with the natural world around you,” explains Carol M. Olmstead, FSIA, feng shui master practitioner at Feng Shui for Real Life. “Your surroundings have a powerful effect on what you attract into your life. When the energy around you is blocked, your prosperity, relationships, health, and well-being can be affected. When the energy is balanced, good things naturally flow into your life.”
If placing the wardrobe around the bed on both sides instead of placing it in the wall adjacent to the bed, I wouldn’t put any storage above or below the bed (I would be able to walk around in both sides of the bed too, although the wardrobe will occupy some space, being around 2 feet in depth), there could be built-in nightstands on both sides of the wardrobe and I could also opt for a Murphy bed/wall bed, in which case, when closing the bed, I would have more space in the room to roll out a yoga mat. That’s what I’d prefer to do, but I don’t know if this arrangement would pose any issues. If having the wardrobe around the bed, I would probably still have to build an additional small wardrobe in the left hand side next to a narrow dresser in front of the bed in case I need the extra space.

I was once in africa where noise was always a problem including bedrooms that broke all the laws you hav elisted here. I had a problem sleeping the irst few weeks but I finally got used to it coz i had no where else to go. If the brain realises that there is no solution BI can tell u from experience that it will take on anything.

5. Bedroom no-nos include wind chimes, water features, plants and mirrors. Chimes disturb rest and relaxation, plants deplete the oxygen levels at night, and water features will encourage burglars. Mirrors should not be seen in bedrooms as they steal energy, disturb sleep, and you will wake up exhausted. Instead mount a full-length mirror on the inside of a wardrobe door.
When it comes to accessorizing, Cerrano encourages choosing items you love in order to optimize the energy of your bedroom. "Accent pillows, a throw blanket, paired with a comforter can all help enhance the energy through subtle colors, patterns, and designs," she suggests. "What you choose would all depend on the overall atmosphere you are aiming to create along with what is already established within that room." Follow your gut and decorate with textiles that bring you joy.
A colored object placed within the Life Area (of your space) associated with that color can help energize that space. By placing the Feng Shui Octagon, a tool for mapping the energies of a home or lot, over your lot plan or a floor plan of your home (starting with the first floor and then moving to any additional floors), you can figure out which parts of your home fall in which Life Areas and cure them with an appropriately colored object.

Many people get concerned about the bathroom when it comes to Feng Shui. The idea is that the water goes out of the home here. Since water is related to wealth, we don’t want our money being flushed away. I have also been taught that water comes back in as it’s being drained, but to be safe, I recommend that you keep the toilet seat cover down and the bathroom door closed to reduce this effect.

Think back to your twin bed or futon in college. Would you still want to be sleeping in it? We didn’t think so. Cho says getting a full or queen size bed is ideal for feng shui because it fosters a restful night of sleep and lets chi circulate properly beneath it. It also creates a sense of togetherness between you and your partner (or future partner!). By comparison, twin beds can feel constricted and impermanent, whereas king size beds can be too spacious to promote intimacy. Plus, going oversized often means split box springs under the mattress, which can create disharmony, not to mention cause issues with your back, Cho says.

And people get overly protective with glass tables—anything too precious brings on nervous energy.

Always choose the wealth feng shui cures that make sense in your home or office; a three legged frog in a modern house may look absolutely ridiculous (unless it has deep meaning to you); and it will sure not work to attract wealth.
Rearrange furniture to help the chi energy to move freely around your house. Visualize the chi energy as water entering your home and attempting to flow from room to room. Move the furniture out of the natural pathways and don't overcrowd rooms with furniture. Leave space enough between pieces of furniture so the chi energy can move about the entire room.

I decided to implement every single big-payoff tip to see what would happen. I put a cool-looking symbol under my bed that was supposed to bring me a husband (nope), did a ceremonial orange peel water sprinkling around my house to create good fortune (couldn’t tell the difference) and buried coins in rice in a big vase to bring money (also, no dice).
