One of the most important things in laying out your bedroom is to leave equal room on both sides of the bed. "This is symbolic of creating equal space for both you and your partner," explains feng shui expert Laura Cerrano. "Sometimes the dimensions of a bedroom don't allow for this arrangement, so holding the intention of creating space is essential. Even if you could only spare an inch of space between the wall and bed, it's better than nothing. Besides that, having two side tables and lamps is a great go-to general recommendation because it relates to balance." If not for feng shui reasons, we also think symmetry looks better.
It should come as no surprise that natural light can make us feel happier and more positive. "Mirrors in feng shui are like aspirin," jokes Benko. "They're prescribed often to treat many ailments. They're a quick adjustment when you want to expand a space, and bring in more light." The key here is to be very mindful of what the mirrors reflect. Is it a stack of bills (i.e. more clutter) or a beautiful view?
Where you place your bed is very important in feng shui. Choose the wrong wall and you risk a long string of restless nights. The path from your bedroom door to the window has the strongest flow of energy; keep your bed out of this path if possible. Positioning your bed in front of a window is a big feng shui no-no. Ideally you should have a solid headboard or wall behind your bed (no diagonal placement either), a small table or chair on either side for support, and a low bench or a trunk at the foot of the bed.
Use the five feng shui elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—to create balance and vibrant energy in all areas of your home. For example, if you are working on attracting more prosperity, you can introduce the feng shui elements of Wood and Water in the Southeast area of your house. If you need to improve your health, you can place lush plants (representing the Wood feng shui element) or pieces of wood furniture in the East area of your home.

In order to know why Feng Shui is used in interior design, it’s important to go back to the core foundation of Feng Shui—Chi. Chi is the life energy that you can draw from anything, living and nonliving, on earth. Everything carries Chi whether it’s a tree, a lake, or a person. In order for any being to be healthy, it must have a good flow of internal Chi. Of course, this also means that our surroundings must be healthy as well. If your surroundings aren’t able to maximize the flow of Chi, then they may not be healthy places to stay in.

The Book of Burial says that burial takes advantage of "vital qi". Wu Yuanyin[25] (Qing dynasty) said that vital qi was "congealed qi", which is the state of qi that engenders life. The goal of feng shui is to take advantage of vital qi by appropriate siting of graves and structures.[22] Some people destroyed graveyards of their enemies to weaken their qi.[26][27][28][29][30]

7. LEAVE THE WATER RUNNINGFountains are a popular feng shui cure because water is associated with wealth and therefore a flowing fountain helps with the cash flow. Fountains are also natural ionizers, meaning they diffuse negative ions in the air when used indoors. Place your fountain facing the front door to signify wealth flowing in but avoid the bedroom where it will represent worry and sorrow.

Is it okay if my head faces the door? The foot of my bed doesn’t face anything, and my head of the bed is against the wall where behind it is my main entrance door to the home. I have both sides of the bed free (not against a wall, but on one side, there’s the bedroom door, the other side, the window. When I open my bedroom door, there is about 2-3 feet of space to my the bed, idk if it’s still good or bad feng shui? Thank you!

First of all, thank you for sharing and creating this site. Its very useful and informative. I just want to ask your opinion about our house. it belongs to my father. my family (me, my husband and my son) lives with him for the past 6 years now. we are sleeping at the 3rd floor of the house. our problem is we are not able to save money. and every time we receive a large amount of money one of my family get sick and the money goes to the hospital bills. please help us.
Benko says there is a slew of emotional issues constantly being displayed in her clients' homes. "Do you have trouble getting clarity? Check if you have stuff all over your surfaces. Do you have self-esteem issues? Check if your mirrors are hung too high, so you can never measure up. Are you chronically single? Assess if you're loading up your home with single imagery—a single vase, a single chair, a single person in a picture."
The feng shui compass is used to determine your proper orientation when using the bagua energy map. In order to take an accurate reading for your feng shui work, you do not necessarily need a traditional feng shui compass, just an accurate magnetic one. If you decide to go deeper, owning a traditional feng shui compass can bring more complex insights to your work.
When you hear about untimely muggings, rapes, accidents and deaths on news you must remember that the victim was at the wrong place at the wrong time. When you learn about feng shui numbers you can reduce the occurrence of accidents and misfortunes in your life. Also you must know how to activate good stars that cause financial windfalls, unexpected good news or opportunities, promotion at work, a chance meeting that brings happiness.
What makes a strong feng shui front door? A door that is proportionate to the size of the house,  that opens easily and freely, enjoys beautiful paint in the right feng shui color and has good door hardware.  A door that is well-lit, has a good pathway leading to it, as well as opens up into an inviting main entry. In other words, a door that invites both respect and admiration, a door that looks good and feels good.
Bright lights rev up energy. If you're trying to keep energy costs down, then place high-wattage bulbs in the hallways, and lower-wattage bulbs in the rest of the house. "Hallways represent the meridians; the brighter the wattage, the more clean and clear your veins and arteries are," says Whitehurst. Want to light up internally? Place objects around your house that elicit positive emotions and lift your own personal chi. If a particular item makes you feel giddy, put it in a place where it's easy to see.
Hi victor , I was just wondering where could I place my bed it’s a little bit small space. If I place my bed in a command position the feet of my bed will face the closet door but it will also beside the window and some part of the bed has a poison arrow because of the edge of closet. But the other option is that the bed position will be close to the bedroom door. What should I do. ? Where should I put the bed? Hope you can help me. Thank u
It is helpful to identify which areas of your home need help the most. For example, you might feel very good about your kitchen and your living room, thus tending to spend quite a bit of time there, but your bedroom, bathrooms, and closets are neglected. Do not completely ignore the areas that feel like too much work, such as the attached garage, the laundry room, or the closets. In feng shui, the house is viewed as a whole being in which one part is intricately connected to the other. Understand that one neglected area may sooner or later spread negative energy throughout your whole house.
The AYRIAL feng shui tips are very good and not the basic information you can easily find on the internet or outdated YouTube videos. Afterall, classical feng shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy and it’s extremely important to be precise with its information and implementation. While the AYRIAL Feng Shui tips are short and sweet, they are sufficient enough to get the picture. And, of course you can repeat the daily feng shui tip throughout the day.
Placement is the key in keeping a good flow of Chi. So when it comes to interior designing, the way you position things in your room greatly affects the flow of Chi. If you place your bed, for example, in a place where the Chi flow is blocked, you will manifest negative energy, which may make you more prone to illnesses or bad luck. This is why many people opt to “Feng Shui” their houses before they move any furniture into rooms including bedrooms, living rooms and other rooms of the home.
What is the first thing you see as you enter your house? Pay attention to where the energy (your attention) goes immediately. Does it go straight to a bathroom that is close to the front door? Or is it pushed right back by a mirror facing the front door? Do you have a staircase facing the front door? Or, maybe your front door is aligned to the back door so that most of the good energy entering the house immediately escapes. All these conditions are hindrances to good feng shui.
"It's believed that mirrors have the ability to activate the energy within a room. Clients I work with will sometimes choose to keep a mirror in their bedroom and tell me that they sleep soundly. Others will negotiate the principle and remove extra mirrors and still keep one while being mindful of what it reflects. Some clients love the idea of no mirrors in the bedroom or may just place a long mirror inside the closet door. If you do that, just make sure the closet is organised because mirrors double what they project. The most important thing is to test and measure this feng shui insight because every person is different. Find what works for you."
Most of us have televisions in our bedroom. It happens. If you have trouble sleeping it or even if you don’t, it is a good idea to cover the television when not in use. The active energy of the television as well as the electronic aspect of it may be disruptive to the type of calming quiet energy more conducive to sleep and bedrooms. My suggestion, find a beautiful scarf or fabric and just toss it over the television!
Having grounding and balanced energy on both sides of the bed is very important for a good feng shui bed placement. This means you have to have two nightstands (not one), but it doesn't mean they have to match! Be as creative as you feel like and let your imagination soar, but be sure that your bed has access from both sides and is treated well with two similar pieces of furniture on both sides of the bed.

Feng Shui is rooted in a holistic worldview. It sees all things and creatures as part of a natural order, a vast environment that is alive and in flux, ever moving and changing. Each thing in this natural order is equally alive and has an energetic value or component. So everything — plants, animals, people, and things — exists in a vast landscape that swirls with vital energy. The same energy that flows through the world flows through you as well. In fact, according to this view, your essence — the part of you that makes you alive, unique, and vital — is this energy. And your body is the vehicle or environment in which this essence flows.
Strengthen the energy of wealth here with your own representation of wealth, be it with an image, a specific object or even just your clear intent written and displayed in a special way. Of course, you can always bring the classical feng shui wealth cures, too, such as the golden ingots, Chinese coins, wealth vases, gem trees, money frogs, feng shui fish and other charms (we have them all in our online store).
Anjie Cho, feng shui expert, interior designer and creator of Holistic Spaces, says, “Your bedroom represents you. Other than maybe your office, you spend a majority of your time in your bedroom, especially if you get six to eight hours of sleep at night.” And that’s when the so-called magic happens: “Because you’re unconscious and in a passive state while you sleep, you’re open to absorbing energy around you more easily,” Cho says.

If possible, place the bed according to your best, or lucky feng shui directions. Notice this list did not start with the feng shui lucky directions first. Not even second. Do not place your bed in a corner or at a strange angle just so that you can sleep facing your best feng shui directions. And do not sleep in the living room just so that you can face your best directions. This might sound funny, but some people do that.

If you are familiar with the interaction of the 5 feng shui elements, you can see right away that the negative star has more power in this bagua area based on the fact that Metal cuts the Wood in the destructive cycle of the 5 feng shui elements. As the Southeast area is connected to the energy of wealth and prosperity, this is a good place to start introducing subtle feng shui cures in 2019 in order to neutralize the potentially negative effects of the annual star, as well as keep the native energy of this area strong.
Hello Sandi! That is a quite a tough Feng shui situation. We would recommend just doing your best. You cannot fix the things that are out of control, but it will affect the energy of your living environment. If there are certain things you can fix with your landlord’s permission, we would recommend trying to do so. However, there is not really a work around for this Feng shui tip, as broken things in the home do create both an energy and financial blog many times. For the citrine, if you were going to choose one window to place the citrine, you should choose the one which gets the most sunlight. That way the Citrine will be constantly recharged by the light.

The main difference between the practices of feng shui (or "vastu" in the Hindu culture) and Western traditions is a belief that we as humans are connected to the spaces we inhabit. Believers in feng shui see sacred purposes and mystical meanings behind design -- not just artistically appealing buildings or superficially pretty surroundings. They view the world in terms of cosmic energy.

Regularly check the flow of chi at your house and personal office. A fresh and strong flow of chi, coupled with various feng shui wealth symbols, must be your goal if you are focused on attracting the energy of wealth and abundance. A good chi flow brings an upward moving energy with spaciousness, comfort, and a calming rhythm. For example, make sure hallways are clear of clutter and objects, with pleasant images on the wall.
General neglect. Some people's dining rooms are a dumping ground for mail, kids' stuff—just a mess that never gets cleared. And in some homes the room is totally ignored; no one ever sets foot in there. This depletes its energy, which makes it even less appealing. If you don't often use the room for meals, activate it in another way. Put a plant there so you're forced to come in and water it. Or bring your laptop in and use the space as an office.
By now, you’re probably getting a pretty good idea that in feng shui, water equals wealth. As such, a fountain – particularly a round one that flows equally in all directions – is a powerful wealth charm and affirmation of constantly flowing finances. A fountain is particularly wonderful near the front door, indoors or out. (I have one similar to this in my office and I really like it. It’s like wind chimes and a fountain all in one.)
Without question, the money is always at the front door. Give your porch and front door area a good cleaning. Is there a broken light bulb or a dying plant? Anything that doesn’t work properly, look auspicious or that’s dirty (like a light fixture with dead bugs in it), will lower your financial energy. Spruce up your front door and walkway. Add a pretty pot of flowers here and keep the porch light on and the area will-lit to invite money and opportunity to your home.

Some say that sleeping above the kitchen stove brings bad energy that disturbs sleep and creates health issues. Though I do not disagree with them, what I do know is that your bedroom’s temperature may be higher than normal, caused by the cooking activities and the heat given off from the back of the refrigerator. Because the optimal temperature for sleep is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit, you may be losing on some quality sleep.
To the uninitiated, feng shui can feel a little esoteric, but if you take the time to dig into the philosophy behind it, you'll find out that it's not only based on simple common-sense practices that make our homes healthier and more organized, but it also reveals how connected we are to our homes—and in turn, how they can affect our mood and well-being. In practicality, feng shui should feel no weirder or less intuitive than spring-cleaning or decorating a comfortable home.
Once any Sha has been identified, you can apply feng shui remedies and cures which will eliminate negative energy flow. Clean out the clutter, throw out junk, get rid of stuff you’re not using, fix broken windows, etc. For things such as exposed beams, placement of furniture or appliances which can’t be moved, use an appropriate Feng Shui cure to restore and energize Ch’i.
We need help with abundance cures. We get a little ahead, and then something always happens to put us back behind. This is a rental house that had much negative energy when we moved in. We seem to have taken care of that, but the lack of abundance remains. We spend most of our time on the screened in back porch, some in the fireplace room, and none in the living room. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/dddd967a29fce3473360756ae5ae92f56206d76355694a3b0360746cb922f471.jpg
How can you strengthen both the Metal element of the visiting star, as well as the native Wood element energy of this bagua area? Is there a feng shui element that is good for both elements? Yes, luckily it is! In 2019, focus on the Earth element in the East area, as this will support both the Wood and the Metal elements and keep them both in balance.

For example, when I think of a lifelong love partnership, I can come up with many images, none of them being the Mandarin ducks (the traditional feng shui representation of love & marriage). This is because I have no cultural or emotional connections to this image. However, for many Chinese people, the image of Mandarin ducks will genuinely speak of devoted love because there is strong cultural lore connected to this image. This means that approaching feng shui in an intelligent way and with a good dose of healthy discrimination is the cornerstone of successful feng shui work.

Do you want to turn your bedroom into a Feng Shui bedroom? Then follow the tips given above. Many interior designers have always used the fundamental concepts of Feng Shui when they design rooms—and with good reason. The flow of energy inside a bedroom is crucial for the health and stability of the ones who stay in it. This is why it’s very important to take into consideration both the type of furniture you’ll get for your bedroom and more importantly, the placement of the furniture. If you follow some of these best practices and things to avoid, you’ll be able to make a good Feng Shui bedroom where you’ll really feel the smooth flow of natural energy around you.
Your bedroom is your shelter from the storm. Delight the five senses by filling it with anything soft, sensuous, or soothing: soft rugs for your cold feet, a luxurious faux fur throw, fluffy down pillows and duvets, scents from essential oils, a luxe velvet robe, the softest silk negligee, a cluster of candles or a low wattage lamp, and a record player with an old record collection waiting nearby.
Fish bowl location is a loaded question. Some quick facts: it depends on its size. As for living areas, its not suitable for bedroom but suitable for bedroom. As for Bagua, anywhere that needs MORE wood and water elements is suitable (determined by various factors, such as amount of living space in that area of the home). Southeast and East is wood, so they are suitable there (but again, not in kitchen or bedroom). Also, don’t place the fish bowl on the “ghost line” – https://fengshuinexus.com/blog/feng-shui-rules-related-to-supernatural/

Having a rug to further ground the energy of the bed (and the whole bedroom) brings even more strength to this powerful feng shui bedroom layout. Notice that the other large piece of furniture – a big chest of drawers, an armoire, etc –  is not on the side, but rather at the foot of the bed. This is very important if you want to keep the energy in your bedroom balanced. Now, of course, I know that not all bedrooms are that easy to deal with and there are many details that can prevent you from re-creating this exact feng shui bedroom layout.
It’s well-known that colors can have a strong impact on mood and emotions, so it’s no surprise that the color of your bedroom is worth paying attention to. “The feng shui rule of thumb is that warm colors create warmth in your relationship, while cool colors can cool it down,” explains Olmstead. She recommends a light, neutral color for the bedroom.

This negative annual star is of the Earth element, and the native element of the Northeast area is also Earth, so you need to focus on Metal element decor items to weaken its energy. Examples of appropriate feng shui Metal element decor in the Northeast area in 2019 are a metal Buddha sculpture, preferably the Medicine Buddha or Kuan Yin, a singing bowl, or a metal Wu Lou. 6 Chinese coins tied in a row are also considered a good cure for this specific energy, as is the salt water cure.

The head of the bed should be against a wall, but not under a window which could allow qi to flow outside and cause restless sleep. It's best not to place a bed under a structural or decorative beam or ceiling fan either, as this is good for neither physical health nor relationships. If moving your bed isn't an option, feng shui practitioners sometimes recommend hanging a bamboo flute (a special feng shui device) from the beam or fan to offset the effects.
CRUISE Floating Feng Shui The principles of feng shui, the Asian practice of placing buildings and arranging interior spaces to create balance and harmony, are becoming as commonplace as dim sum. Crystal Cruises has renovated the spa aboard its Crystal Symphony to conform with feng shui tenets, and the Crystal Harmony's spa will get the same treatment later this year. Among the touches on the Symphony that are designed to allow qi (life force) to flow like the tides are Chinese tiles outside beauty rooms and Zen rock gardens in waiting rooms. Call (800) 820-6663.

Brighter colors tend to shout out at you, which can amplify your emotions and give you more energy. They also reflect more light, which is known to disrupt your biological clock and keep you awake. If you desire to use bright colors, you may need to dim down the bedroom lights to balance out the brightness. Another method is to use the bright colors as accents rather than the main theme.
A good feng shui bedroom decor is a balanced decor that promotes the best flow of energy for restorative sleep, as well as sexual healing. The best feng shui bedroom colors for are considered the so-called "skin colors," and we know the colors of human skin vary from pale white to rich chocolate brown. Choose colors within this range that will work best for your bedroom decor.
Rectangular or square tables are OK in the dining room because, even though they have corners, no one will be sitting in front of a point, as they might with a coffee table. But if a circular or oval table fits perfectly, it's an excellent choice. Natural materials, like wood, feel solid and warm. The sound of glass hitting glass can cause tension. And people get overly protective with glass tables—anything too precious brings on nervous energy.
This is the bagua area that hosts both excellent, as well as some challenging energy in 2019. The star of overall good luck and success — Star #1 — will be spending 2019 in the West area. This feng shui star is of the Water element, which is supported by the native Metal element of the West bagua area. Just like in the case of the South area in 2019, if you already have a solid feng shui foundation in your home (meaning each bagua area of your home has its main feng shui element well expressed and nourished), there is little you have to do here in 2019.
It's important to balance the yin and yang in the bedroom, and one way to do that is by mixing textures, says Cerrano. Yin (the feminine energy) is evident in soft textures like a plush rug or soft blanket and "brings in that mothering, nurturing energy and emotion," she explains. The masculine yang energy, on the other hand, can be found in hard wood floors, for example. However, men can have feminine energies and vice versa, which is why Cerrano suggests balancing hard and soft textures in the bedroom. Los agrees: “Too many bedrooms now are too yang."

A Feng shui bedroom layout embraces the primary function of your bedroom, which is to serve such activities as sleep, relaxation and sex. Feng shui bedroom principles incorporate the right elements and furniture placement to enhance your overall health and well-being. These principles ensure the continued flow of chi energy through the balance of yin (female) and yang (male) energies.

Speaking from personal experience back in my college days, there are many ways to hurt yourself if your bedroom is filled with clutter. You can trip on something. You can step on your own clutter. Worse, you can stub your toe. The pain associated with that can wake you fully and can completely disrupt your sleeping cycle. Maybe you can relate to this funny Vine video that shows “how it really feels when you stub your pinky toe”:
WHO -- Purvi Sevak, 31, an economics professor, and her husband, Jeff Hubbard, 39, a portfolio manager, shown with their daughter, Qatalina, 8 weeks WHAT -- 3-bedroom house WHERE -- Bethel, Me. Purvi: We live in Manhattan, and we've always wanted a country house surrounded by nature. When we bought this land, people would say, ''If you'd clear those trees, you'd have a great view.'' We'd think: How are trees not a view?
Be aware of the position of the windows. If you can, try to avoid placing your bed between the window and a door, or you'll be in the middle of the "draught" of chi running between these two places. If you can't avoid it, just make sure you have nice, pleasant curtains to block some of the bad energy. You should also avoid sleeping facing the window, if you can, or your sleep won't be as restful.

The bagua map is used by first orienting yourself to the main entrance to the house, or the entry to an individual room, then using the map to identify the different key areas of the space. Then, specific items can be positioned in those key areas to enhance the feng shui. For example, the place defined as the wisdom area is a good place for a small stack of books, while the love and relationship space is a good place for a wedding photo.
