However, using plants for feng shui can get tricky. You’ll need to factor in the five elements, the type of room, and the directions. It’s not easy, but that’s the only way you can apply feng shui in a holistic way to get the best results that you desired for. Of course, the alternative is to get help from a professional so you won’t overlook any important factors when you feng shui yourself.
Crystals are the powerhouses of good feng shui energy; they bring the essence of abundance from deep within the earth. If you are new to crystals, start with clear quartz, preferably in a rough/natural shape. Along with the clear quartz, there are 3 more crystals that can help you attract the energy of wealth: pyrite, citrine and amethyst. Pyrite is excellent as a wealth feng shui magnet, and reasonably easy to find and well priced. Genuine citrine tends to be pricey and a bit hard to find;  amethyst is easy to find, works very well on many levels, including purifying the energy in your home. If there are no crystal shops close to where you live, check our online selection of feng shui crystals (our store is powered by amazon.com).

Excellent Feng Shui energizers, especially when placed in the "South East" Wealth & Good Luck corner. They are the best symbol of Wealth. It should be kept in the "South East" of the living room, everyone will be benefited. Alternately, they can also be hung in all the other rooms. To energize these crystals, wash them in salt water every month. If one has touched them, keep in the sun for about 10 minutes.

For a particularly small living room, Cerrano recommends hanging a mirror—but placement is everything. "Mirrors have the capability to 'expand a room' by making it look and feel bigger," she explains. "Just be mindful of what the mirror is reflecting, as it doubles the energy of whatever it sees," she cautions. You should also "select a mirror size that allows you to see your entire head, shoulders, and chest line to ensure you 'capture your aura,'" according to Cerrano.

2. Southwest and Northeast Area. Just like the center area of your home, both Southwest and Northwest belongs to the Earth element as well. A weakened energy in the Southwest area negatively affects the relationship between the husband and the wife. A weakened energy in the Northeast area slows down children’s ability to learn, which may result in poor academic performance.
As soon as you have decluttered, your tendency may be to immediately add new things. However, this second step is important! When I moved from Nashville to Los Angeles, I sold practically everything I owned to drive across the country in my car. I had thoroughly gone through the decluttering phase, but became discouraged when new things were not showing up yet. I realized that I had skipped this important step, of rearranging the feng shui of my new home. I was only in a temporary space living in an area that was only temporary. I was still getting my bearings, and a lot of rearrangement was needed as I lived in such a large city.
As you know, the native feng shui element of the South area is Fire, so this by itself is already weakening the negative Wood element energy of the visiting star. If you have done a good job with creating harmonious feng shui energy with Fire element decor that is needed in the South bagua area, the potentially negative energy that is present here in 2019 is already diminished.
Find out your Kua number and your lucky directions so that you can be energized by good energy from your best or lucky feng shui directions. Use these as a guide to adjust the position of things like your bed, your desk, or the seating in your dining area. For example, if your Kua number is 1, it is best to face one of the following directions: Southeast, East, South, or North.
Artwork is another way to bring any of the elements into the feng shui of your home. Whether it is an abstract painting of a landscape with trees or a photo of the Redwood National Forest, either way the Wood element is coming through the artwork and into the room it is displayed. Imagery is very impressionable to our subconscious mind and therefore an extremely effective way to transfer the elements into spaces. The colors, shapes, objects, and even the mounting materials used for the art piece all play a role in what element or elements are being projected.
Bamboo is a plant that is abundant in Asia and grows very quickly. It represents upright and honest growth, as well as flexibility and adaptability. Since the bamboo plant does not flower or fruit, it’s lifespan is long and simple. And because it is hollow, bamboo also symbolizes an empty heart of humbleness. I love the fact that in western culture, lucky bamboo has also become a symbol for the green sustainability movement. Lucky bamboo is not technically bamboo, but it looks very similar, is super easy to take care of, and represents the same thing symbolically.
The gray color is usually treated as either boring (dull gray!) or as a sophisticated, upscale color. No matter what you think of it, gray color can sure bring beautiful feng shui energy to any space, as long as you choose wisely. The feng shui bagua areas that most benefit from the energy of gray color are West (Creativity), Northwest (Helpful People), and North (Career).

If you’ve been reading my articles for a while, you might get tired of me repeating “no clutter, no clutter, no clutter”. I have to keep doing it, though. Clutter is stuck energy, and the essence of cluttered spaces  – as well as the dominant energy of people who live in cluttered spaces – is based on fear mixed with pessimism. Hardly a quality of energy that can help one attract wealth! Yes, of course, I know that clearing clutter is not easy, and yes, I know that it might take time to get rid of all your clutter. All you have to do, though, is commit to clearing it, and then follow an easy feng shui clutter clearing system.
So, there you have it, the basic feng shui color guide to help you create a happy and healthy home. Color is like music, nourishing and uplifting, and the more colors you harmoniously absorb throughout the day, the higher your sense of well-being. Do not be afraid to bring vibrant colors into your space, as color is light, and light is our number one nutrient.

Feng shui yellow is happy, nourishing, and hopeful. Depending on which direction your yellow tint or tone is headed, yellow is part of the fire or earth element in fengshui. Earth energy yellows are more than just sunshiney globs of smiles, though. Yellow provides a sweet infusion of cheer, hope, clarity, and creativity. The fengshui color aids in mental acuity while providing stability and nurturing vibes.
Does your entry door squeak or whine when you open or close it? The entry door is the first and last thing you encounter when coming or going from your home. The sound is as if the door is crying and this can affect your mood and well-being. Many people have become so accustomed to the sound that they don’t even notice it. Oil that door hinge and create more positive energy when you enter and leave your house. It’s also helpful to oil any other door hinges throughout the home, but the entry door is the most important.
If your light is too limited to grow healthy plants, or if you simply have a case of “brown thumb,” silk plants are an acceptable Feng Shui alternative to living plants. Be sure to dust them often and replace them if they fade. However, it's best to avoid dried flowers because they represent stagnant energy. If you simply can’t give up your dried arrangements, be sure to dust them frequently and replace them seasonally.
"Whether grown in an indoor patio, on a balcony, or outdoors, the orange tree will bring abundance into your home. It should be placed in your wealth or health gua. Citrus trees are believed to be very lucky. I used to have a grapefruit tree that grew so large, we could provide the entire neighborhood with fruit year-round. This is the true meaning of abundance: when you can provide enough for yourself and others."

Another aspect of good feng shui decorating with plants is the choice of plant pots colors, textures, and materials. Every little detail matters in feng shui because everything is an expression of a specific energy. When decorating with plants, be mindful of your choice of plant containers colors and shapes as a representation of one of the 5 feng shui elements.  This way you can either add or weaken the energy that plants bring into your home.

Orange is fengshui’s color of choice when sociality, optimism, and openness are sought. Orange is also a part of the fire element color family and, as such, is an excellent option for when the energy from vibrant red needs to be downscaled a bit. The appeal of orange is universal and not tied to a particular climate or season – it represents the bright, carefree freedom of summertime, yet it just as seamlessly reminds us of cozy, firelit winter evenings.
The Year of the Pig brings fortune and luck in making money to all who are responsible and optimistic. People who are born in one of following years: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043 are born under the Pig sign and benefit from this symbol even more.  Their investments are efficient, and relationships get strong in 2019. The year of the Earth Pig is excellent for investments, starting a family, making new friends. 2019 is the year full of joy and love for all the zodiac signs. The Eart Pig sign attracts success in all areas of life.
Plants—associated with the wood element—are believed to adjust that balance. "We are wired to feel at ease in the company of nature," she explains. That said, she also warns against having too many plants at home: "When decorating with plants, be mindful that too many wood elements will also stall your thinking process. In order to think and feel clearly, we need other elements in our lives (metal, water, earth, and fire), so don't create a jungle that overrules your house."

Define the bagua, or feng shui energy map of your home, and see which colors are best for your bedroom. According to your home bagua, there will be specific colors recommended in specific areas, so you will know which colors are best in the bagua area that your bedroom is located in. This might take a bit of time but it is definitely worth it! Once you know the bagua, you will be able to bring better energy into your space. Read: Get To Know the Feng Shui Energy Map of Your Home

Plants in the workplace are also important for Feng Shui as they purify the air by lowering CO2 levels, and removing dust, mould, bacteria, and everyday toxins from electrical equipment from the air. This improves concentration, which boosts productivity. Some of the best Feng Shui plants to purify the air include the Peace Lily, Money Plant, and Ficus.
Most of us have televisions in our bedroom. It happens. If you have trouble sleeping it or even if you don’t, it is a good idea to cover the television when not in use. The active energy of the television as well as the electronic aspect of it may be disruptive to the type of calming quiet energy more conducive to sleep and bedrooms. My suggestion, find a beautiful scarf or fabric and just toss it over the television!

The popular classical feng shui cure for this area, the image of a blue color rhinoceros, can be used in the Southeast area in 2019. His energy is associated with strong protection, and the blue color brings the energy of the needed Water element. There are many ways you can bring this image with subtle decor details that are in harmony with your home decor. Alternatively, you can go for the actual traditional feng shui cure in a lucky charm form (find it in our online store). You can also substitute the image of rhinoceros for the image of the elephant, preferably in the Water feng shui element colors, too (blue or black colors).

This is regarded by the Chinese as the king of flowers, a flower of riches and honour, a Yang flower, and the essence of spring. The peony represents feminine beauty and of the many colours in which it comes, red is regarded as being especially lucky for families with daughters who are looking for a partner. If you buy a peony, plant it in the Southwest corner of your garden to attract relationship, marriage, or romance luck in the home. Other plants that resemble the peony may be used as substitutes although their flowers may not last as long. These include the hibiscus, gardenia and begonia. Begonias are quite easy to cultivate and are excellent for adding colour to the garden.

In working with my clients choosing color for their home, I always recommend they get smaller cans of paint and paint the color choices (I always choose three per room) on large sheets of construction or art paper, then tape them to the walls and move them around. Live with them for several days so you can see what they look like in different light. They may be considerably different during the day than the night.
This step is really easy: do not forget to have at least some decor items in skin color tones to create warm, good feng shui in your bedroom. The truth is, skin color tones also work best as bedroom wall colors, because they create an energy similar to an embrace. The energy of skin color tones is the earthy, warm, nourishing energy that we all need, especially during nighttime. Read: Get To Know the Feng Shui Color Wheel
The best way we can positively contribute to achieving balance on the planet—clearly so much larger than ourselves—is to take care of what we do have control over, that is, our own spaces: our body and our homes with the art and science of feng shui. We each have our own cycle of the five elements taking place within ourselves constantly striving for balance. For example, the specific goal of acupuncture is to correct imbalances of the five elements within us and to properly promote the flow of chi throughout the body. Each organ system and meridian line correlates to one of the five elements.

Define the Bagua, or the feng shui energy map, of your house, by using one of the two main feng shui methods: the classical school Bagua or the BTB grid. Once you define the Bagua, you will know which areas of your home are connected to specific areas of your life. For example, in traditional feng shui, the Southeast feng shui area of your home is connected to the flow of money energy in your life.

To create change in your life, you must remove what is no longer working; create space for new energy. This is the decluttering phase. In the five elements cycle, it is the Metal phase where energy is refined and purified so that rebirth can later take place. Clutter is whatever is no longer in your highest and best interest to keep and whatever takes up valuable space the new incoming energy needs. Only have in your home items you use or love. When I do feng shui home consultations, oftentimes this is the only step needed. In cases where there is too much stuff within a space, it simply needs to be cleaned out. In doing so, favorite items can stand out and be seen.
If you plan to reuse last year’s feng shui cures, be sure to cleanse them thoroughly. However, the best way to go is to purchase new feng shui cures to use as your annual 2019 feng shui cures. You can do that in any Chinatown, as well as many online stores (we certainly recommend our online feng shui store powered by amazon.com). Instead of dividing the info by good and bad 2019 feng shui areas, I will guide you step by step through all bagua areas to give you a good idea as to what is happening there in 2019. Let’s start in the East feng shui bagua area and move clockwise from there.
5. Underneath Beams. Beams are known for their bad feng shui because they bring suppressing Qi (think of the trapped-feeling you get when you enter a place with very low ceilings). That is why feng shui suggest that you avoid sleeping, working, or resting under beams. Placing large tree-like plants underneath the beam is said to help a little, as its upward growth is said to counter the beam’s suppressing Qi.

7. Accelerates Healing and Recovery Process. It turns out that hospital gardens bring natural medical benefits. Namely, it helps patients heal and recover faster. In a study conducted by HortTechnology, patients recovering from abdominal surgery in hospital rooms were tested. They found that the patients exposed to plants and hospital gardens had significantly fewer intakes of postoperative analgesics, more positive physiological responses, and more positive feelings.
This is a very important room when it comes to creating abundance. You want the color scheme to promote the positive aspects of the activities taking place. The nourishment of the body is the utmost activity, but there is also a social component with the interaction of the family and/or friends partaking in meals. To accomplish this, the best feng shui dining room colors include:
Many people get concerned about the bathroom when it comes to Feng Shui. The idea is that the water goes out of the home here. Since water is related to wealth, we don’t want our money being flushed away. I have also been taught that water comes back in as it’s being drained, but to be safe, I recommend that you keep the toilet seat cover down and the bathroom door closed to reduce this effect.
In fengshui, red color represents romance and love, courage, and passion. Red is the strongest color representation of the fire element, which supports life energy. It’s not surprising, then, that red is an active, energizing color…which can also be draining if overused. It’s no mistake that red has been associated with an increase in blood pressure. In Chinese, red is the color of happiness and luck; India uses red for marriage; Western areas associate red with love, passion, and courage.
The feng shui color of deep water and the universal void, color black adds depth, strength, and definition to any space. You can use it to bring stronger energy to any space, from your main entry to your kitchen. Are there any restrictions for the feng shui use of the color black? Yes, it is best not to use black color in your baby's room or on your bedroom ceiling.
I see your concern, because Wood controls the Earth element in the Northeast. First, I would check whether your plants are really in the Northeast. You’ll need to divide your floor plan into 8 pieces, according to the 8 cardinal directions. If they’re really in the Northeast, you can either (1) place smaller plants and/or (2) introduce some fire element to weaken the wood energy.
If you do not have time to go through steps 1 and 2, skip them and just bring home a variety of paint color chips in all skin tones — from white to deep chocolate brown — and see which color creates the best energy in your bedroom. Skin color tones are considered the best feng shui colors for a bedroom, so you cannot really go wrong with these colors in your bedroom decor. In time, you might want to explore steps 1 and 2 because they will help you create really good feng shui energy in your whole home, as well as great feng shui energy in your specific bedroom.
