I see your concern, because Wood controls the Earth element in the Northeast. First, I would check whether your plants are really in the Northeast. You’ll need to divide your floor plan into 8 pieces, according to the 8 cardinal directions. If they’re really in the Northeast, you can either (1) place smaller plants and/or (2) introduce some fire element to weaken the wood energy.

Feng shui blue is associated with peace, serenity, and calmness. As the primary color for water element, blue is a favorite fengshui color. There is a limitless potential when using blue in your fengshui space – from pale blue skies to aquamarine seas to indigo twilight. Blue is associated with a calming physical reaction, including slowed heart rate and breathing. Blue is excellent at inspiring contemplation, meditation, creativity, and privacy.
The bamboo is widely represented in Chinese art, literature and poetry and is believed to have the power to ward off malign spirits if displayed in the home in the form of, for example, wind chimes or flutes. It also symbolizes durability and endurance (because it flourishes throughout the year) and a bamboo clump on the left side of your home to signify the dragon is highly auspicious. Planted near the front of the home, it attracts auspicious Chi flows.

"In a vase, place a few stalks of bamboos in fresh water," says Gordon. "Place five stalks in a vase for academic achievement and creativity (in your creativity area), place seven stalks in your health and family area, place eight stalks in your wealth area, and nine stalks for overall luck (you can place these anywhere, but it could also be in the center of your home). Don't forget to change the water frequently."
To learn more about making the most of the space that's arguably the most utilized in any home (aka the living room), we tapped expert Laura Cerrano. "Depending on the layout of your home or apartment, the living room tends to be one of the first rooms that greets you upon entering," she explains. "This means that the presentation of your living room sets a certain feeling, emotion, mindset, and energetic frequency before you venture into the rest of your home."
As Feng Shui is concerned with how you arrange your environment, you should also carefully consider where you place your plants. Although cacti are often said to cause arguments because of their spikes, they actually shield you from negative energy. However, they need to be placed in lower traffic areas of the workplace, such as washrooms. In fact, as this area attracts negative energy, placing a cactus in the bathroom is one of the best things you can do to improve it.
One of the least expensive ways to give your home new life is a fresh coat of paint. Even those who live in apartments can often convince their landlord to let them paint, as long as they return the walls to plain white before they leave. The investment is minimal -- less than $80 buys three gallons of paint, rollers and brushes to do a few rooms.

Plants in the workplace are also important for Feng Shui as they purify the air by lowering CO2 levels, and removing dust, mould, bacteria, and everyday toxins from electrical equipment from the air. This improves concentration, which boosts productivity. Some of the best Feng Shui plants to purify the air include the Peace Lily, Money Plant, and Ficus.

The rearranging step gives you time to organize and clarify what you really want. After you declutter, you may see your rooms in a whole different light. You may decide that a room needs an entirely different function. For example, after decluttering a guest bedroom, maybe you realize you would rather it be a home office instead. Or maybe after decluttering, you can finally move the bed to its optimal position with space to add nightstands. The point is to make any necessary adjustments in the feng shui of your house with what is remaining before adding new energy. This way, you will have more clarity about what new energy you want to bring into your space. Referring back to my refrigerator analogy, I probably should do the rearranging step even before I go to the grocery store to get an even better idea of what I want and need.
RT: Start by listening to the space and seeing what colors it needs. Then, look at the feng shui guidelines. For example, an east facing room is treated very differently in feng shui than a north facing one because each direction needs a specific element in order to thrive energetically. Then, of course, play and experiment until you choose only what makes your heart jump for joy!
The feng shui color of sunlight, cheerful and uplifting yellow will always brighten any home or office. Yellow color also creates cozy, welcoming feng shui energy in your kitchen, living room or children's rooms. From hot sunflower yellow to pale buttery yellow color tones―there are many options to choose from when you are planning to re-decorate your home.
The color pink, in the fengshui scheme, represents love, but a more sweet and gentle type of love than red’s passionate, romantic love. Pink is part of the fire element’s representation. As the universal color of love and a delicate shade in and of itself, fengshui pink has a beautifully softening effect on any space…and a soothing effect on any person.

While there are plenty of resources out there to guide you to extreme feng shui dedication, this article is not one of them. Rather, we’ve included 15 simple yet effective ideas for incorporating soothing feng shui décor into your home. And, when all is said and done, remember that, just as feng shui facilitates good design, good design also enhances feng shui elements.
In Feng Shui, we use the “commanding position” to locate important furniture such as your bed. The bed is arguably the most important piece of furniture to put in the commanding position because you spend so many passive hours sleeping! To place your bed in the commanding position, you want to be facing the door while not in line with the door while lying in bed. Ideally you can be diagonally across the room from your bedroom door. However, I understand this is not always possible. In that case, find a mirror and place it so that you can see the door while lying in bed. I suggest freestanding mirrors, as they’re easier to move around and get just right.
Black, as the absorber of all other colors, is fengshui’s unknown and infinite color. Black represents water element, which makes sense when you consider that deep water is not blue but rather black. Black color, as void as it may seem, actually adds depth and strength to any space through its defining fengshui role. Energy will be directed and guided through a careful use of the color black.
You might also consider these hues too strong to use for an entire room. So Frampton counts foyers (like this poppy pink one, designed by Jonathan Berger) and hallways as the perfect places to try them. "A hallway should have a dynamic energy — it's circulating people through the space, it's all about movement," she says. "So express that with a dynamic color!"
"Feng shui emphasizes the harmony with one's internal and external environment and the world at large," he explains. "Creating this harmony is particularly important when assessing the color of one’s home office, the place in the home where wealth and abundance are of paramount importance." So how exactly should you choose the ideal feng shui office colors? Brown recommends answering one simple question: Which cardinal direction does your home office face?
One thing to remember when selecting feng shui colors for your home is color cannot activate a feng shui element. However, it is a nice design choice that's compatible with feng shui rooms. Choose feng shui colors that enhance compass elements, such as feng shui southeast colors or feng shui west colors. You can also select colors that are appropriate for specific room functions.
Because our energy is so interrelated with our home’s energy, we are positively or negatively affected by the positive or negative of energy within our home. If there is an energy imbalance in the feng shui of our home, the effects of that imbalance will show up somewhere in our life. Our home is a mirror of ourselves. Imbalances in the energy of our home could show up anywhere from health issues to relationship problems. For example, have you ever experienced a sudden shift—good or bad—in your life situation as soon as you move into a new home?

The color pink, in the fengshui scheme, represents love, but a more sweet and gentle type of love than red’s passionate, romantic love. Pink is part of the fire element’s representation. As the universal color of love and a delicate shade in and of itself, fengshui pink has a beautifully softening effect on any space…and a soothing effect on any person.

To master the powerful, yet subtle art of genuine feng shui decorating, you have to understand the theory of 5 feng shui elements and all the intricate ways these elements express themselves. Feng shui is an ancient Eastern practice of arranging items in such a way as to create the maximum healthy and positive flow of energy. Although it has been around for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years, fengshui has become a more desirable methodology for interior design in recent years, and all over the globe. The use of fengshui colors in your home and décor will definitely affect the energy throughout your space, so it is important to choose those colors, and their use, with care.
The bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the home, according to feng shui, because it's where we seek restoration, balance, and peace. It's also the place of dreams. In feng shui, the items you place between your mattresses have an energetic association with your intentions. So yes, you can make money (or find true love) in your sleep. Use sensual fabrics and fluffy pillows to promote relaxation and don't store things under your bed — shoes, suitcases, books, pictures, and files are too energizing for restful slumber.

The shape associated with the Wood element is columnar. Anything vertical-shaped embodies the energy of the Wood element because it expresses the energy of growth and expansion. Columns are a Wood element that is an architectural feature built into the feng shui of homes for structural or aesthetic purposes. Artificial or real bamboo stalks are another example of the Wood element. Tall furniture is another example. Because the Wood element is yang in nature, it will naturally draw the eye up as opposed to down. The number one is also an expression of the Wood element. The shape of the number one is columnar and represents independence and leadership, all qualities of the Wood element energy.

So, the annual 2019 feng shui updates come in place as an additional layer of energy, as a way to define the yearly movement of good and bad feng shui energies called stars in the flying stars school of feng shui. In the bagua areas that have beneficial 2019 feng shui stars you can apply specific feng shui cures to benefit from good energy; and in the bagua areas with challenging feng shui stars in 2019, one will usually apply specific cures to negate the possible unwelcome effects.

7. The sign of 2019 Earth Pig year associates with feminine energy, comfort, tranquility, soft room colors, natural textures. Limit the presence of crystals in the Southeast area in 2019. Even though crystals are an excellent feng shui cure for the Southeast area, in 2019 they are not ideal here because their element — the Earth feng shui element — is strengthening the Metal element of the visiting negative star. This means in order to limit the negative energy here, it is important to limit the elements that strengthen the negative star.
We already know that some plants have the ability to clean the air (literally). Self-purifying plants can filter the air of harmful chemicals, resulting in cleaner breathing air—but what if they could do more than that? We chatted with expert Marianne Gordon of Feng Shui With Me—who helps clients find true love, enhance fertility, and acquire wealth through feng shui courses and consultations—to find out what other hidden benefits plants might have in the feng shui of our homes and, most importantly, where to place them to maximize their positive effects.

If you’re looking for more abundance and prosperity, you can place 3 or 9 stalks in the wealth area of your home, office, or bedroom—or better yet, in all three locations. To locate the wealth area of the feng shui map, stand in the entry door to the home or room. The far back corner on the left side represents wealth, prosperity and abundance. The bamboo will represent positive and steady growth.

While a blending of shapes and angles is always good, both in standard interior design and in feng shui, some objects promote positive chi best without sharp angles jutting out. The coffee table is one of these instances. Because furniture tends to be arranged around a coffee table, people will likely be walking around it and facing it while they’re seated; this means that the jarring effect of a coffee table’s corners will be amplified. Choose an oval or circle coffee table for best energy.
