To ensure harmony and calm your nerves/soothes your temper, play some music around you. Aim for calming melodies or songs without any lyrics. Try to avoid anything too upbeat or energetic as it may distract you if you’re meant to be concentrating on your work. However, different people respond to different music. If you find rock ballads to be soothing, go ahead and play them. If you are running your own business, having soothing music place in the office is good for business and your employees. Alternatively, getting your clients to meet somewhere with pleasant music can ensure higher chances of discussion or deals.

Houseplants can be an important Feng Shui tool to help activate positive energy in your home or office while they purify the air. Many people think that lucky bamboo is the only Feng Shui friendly houseplant, but there are actually many choices that can fit your décor. The best time to add a new plant is at the beginning of a new month or at the new year, when it symbolizes a healthy beginning for you and your family.
For optimal feng shui, place the bamboo in a shady spot where you want to invite more blessings for good luck and harmony, such as on the counter of your business place or the living room of your home. In Asia, people commonly tie red ribbons around the stalks of the lucky bamboo plant during the Chinese New Year and place it on a special table together with other auspicious objects, like the golden ingot.

When it comes to desk materials, wood and metal are the best choice as they symbolize stability and peak mental performance. Glass desks and tables (like those offered by Lexus or Arkitek) on the other hand, symbolize transparency, but they also
 allow a faster energy flow, so be sure to coat them with wooden accessories or potted plants for a dose of stability. Laminate desks are energy neutral and
 won’t impact your performance significantly.
In an open plan with many desks, use plants to soften sharp edges and corners. Sharp edges create “poison arrowsâ€? which contribute to conditions such as irritability, discomfort, and even disease to name a few! Also, the aisles should be large enough so that the energy moves slower. Make sure to use subtle colors in an open office plan. Bright, vivid colors are too active in a large bustling room.

Research finds that Compact Fluorescent light bulbs (the twisty ones) may cause skin damage. LED bulbs, the more energy efficient choice, have upsides and downsides as well. They flicker in a hard-to-perceive way that can be disruptive to our eyes and mind, and they contain lots of blue light that can cause eye damage. After a lot of research, I've come to the conclusion that old-school incandescent full-spectrum light bulb may be the best way to go to promote a healthy, harmonious energy. Be sure to shut them off as soon as you leave a room to save energy.
