It’s said that the practice of feng shui decorating encourages good chi—also known as positive energy—to flow smoothly through a room, which in turn benefits its occupants. The better the chi, the more cleansing and positive experience your clients will have in counseling. While every room could use feng shui, it is particularly useful in a private practice where clients are coming in for help. The more positive energy, the better!

find your flow. when it comes to career energy, moving water represents prosperity, abundance, and steady flow. you can bring this in with actual water – fresh flowers (change the water regularly), a fountain, or a coffee maker – or imagery of moving water. do yourself a solid, though, and make sure the WATER moves into your space. if the water “flows” toward the door, so will all that potential do(ugh) ray me.

As with one of the meanings of “earth” this element can help you stay grounded and stable. It also is said to create grounds for stable relationships as well as job stability. Designs with earthly tones (light browns, yellows, oranges and sandy colors) will help you especially when used in the center of the office. Paintings of landscapes can represent the earth element so can ceramic or clay decorations.
Lucky bamboo plant is often associated with Feng Shui friendly plants. The color white is considered to be among the list of supreme colors from the ancient yogi tradition and is of the metal element. White vibrates with high intensity and represents purity, new possibilities, focus and cleanliness. Making an office entirely white is often too intense, causing occupants to become unsettled, hyper-focused and stressed. This is why it is best to use it as an accent color. For example, if you were to paint your walls terra cotta or light blue you could paint the doors and trim white to add just enough purity and crispness to the existing color scheme to simply enhance the other attributes of the primary color scheme. This makes white an ideal accent color for any type of office environment.
I see your concern, because Wood controls the Earth element in the Northeast. First, I would check whether your plants are really in the Northeast. You’ll need to divide your floor plan into 8 pieces, according to the 8 cardinal directions. If they’re really in the Northeast, you can either (1) place smaller plants and/or (2) introduce some fire element to weaken the wood energy.

All plants belong to the Wood element, and experts use them as a way to balance the elemental energy of a specific area. For instance, it can help boost the energy level of an area associated with wood, or weaken an area associated with water. But of course, there are other factors to consider when balancing the five elements, which we will discuss later.
While many people believe there are good Feng Shui plants and bad Feng Shui plants, this is not the case. However, the plants most often considered “good” are divided into two categories, those which are the best at air filtration and those which are considered Feng Shui money plants. Let us discuss the good air purifiers first. They pull the most carbon dioxide and other unwanted chemicals from their surroundings, leaving behind cleaner, purer air, which then leads to better chi throughout your office. An example of a good air purifying plant is this Rhapis palm. Not only is it a good air purifier, but it is also lovely, a wonderful decoration for any office.

Crystals such as Tourmaline or Clear Quartz should be placed at the right-hand corner of your desk. This helps you to breakdown the stressful energies at work. It can also reduce attacks from ‘tricky’ people or those who may want to con you. They can also attract benefactors to assist you in your work. Remember to cleanse the crystals regularly to keep them at their most effective.

For many years, Feng Shui colors have been considered to be powerful tools when it comes to creating the best environments. Whether you are an executive with a busy and demanding job, or if you are new to working in an office, there are many ways in which Feng Shui elements can help you to create a good office environment. Offices don’t often give many opportunities to use color, but using the elements, it is possible to create a more positive working environment.

Chlorophytum comosum is a flowering perennial herb which falls in asparagaceae plants family, native to southern Africa. It is popular houseplant commonly known as spider plant. Spider plant was part of NASA study and found effective in cleaning formaldehyde, xylene and toluene. It improves indoor air quality and reduces stress, a report published by the university’s Cooperative Extension Service cited spider plant as one of the top varieties for removing VOCs and other pollutants from indoor air.
Feng shui can be applied to any type of work environment, even a cubicle. The same principles apply every time, and using a bagua is a great way to focus on areas that need improvement with the help of colors and elements. Once you have established a work environment that allows you to sit down and focus on your work and enjoy every minute of it, you can then begin expanding feng shui techniques into other areas of your life. For example, to ignite your love life or improve an existing romantic relationship, you can take a course on feng shui specifically for love. Or you can learn how to use feng shui in your home to promote peace, health, and joy within your family. Just have fun and maintain balance to reap the most benefits from this ancient system.
1. Center of the House. The center area of your home belongs to the Earth element. Because Wood has the ability to weaken the Earth element, the center of your house is not the best place for indoor plants. This is not to say that placing plants there is completely out of the question. If you feel like the area can use some plants, place small ones instead of large ones.

Cue late nights at the office or working from your sofa or bed after dinner as you try to make it to the finish line.
Any office environment can become hectic or stressful at times, making it important to find ways to make the space as calming as possible. By creating a color scheme based on these principles utilizing the five Chinese elements of wood, fire, earth, metal and water, you can help to create a calming environment in your office or energize your employees.

North area (Career or Path in Life). The feng shui element here is Water, so this is the feng shui area for items representing water, as well as Metal (Metal creates Water in the feng shui 5 elements cycle.) Without making it sound too complicated, you can place inspiring images related to your career in black or white frame colors in the North area of your home office.
Since ancient times, the wise Chinese believed that amethyst, a purple crystal, can facilitate the professional relationships with the superiors, as well as with the field experts. I rent a small room in a condo. Everything I do is in this room. I have a home business as an editor and writer. My desk is in the southeast corner, the only place it can be, and I sit facing a wall next to the window, with my back to the door. I have an oblong mirror I’m thinking of hanging on the wall in front of me to reflect the door behind me. Turning the desk around so I can see the door would be awkward space-wise. And what should I put on the desk? It’s actually a table. Thank you.
In today's era of open concept offices and cubicle farms, introducing some feng shui for the office desk concepts to the office will keep the energy flowing positively around you, so that your mind will be clear and you will have good fortune in your work. Air purifying plants will help to increase the oxygen available to your brain (a definite bonus while working, we can all agree) as well as refresh the space overall and keep positive energy levels high.
While there are few to no scientific findings that look at the effectiveness of feng shui directly (just, you know, thousands of years of Chinese tradition), some research backs up the practice’s basic principles. One study suggests that getting more organized can improve time management, which helps boost productivity at work Time management for today’s workplace demands. Thomack, B. Matrix Absence Management, Phoenix, AZ. Workplace Health and Safety, 2012 May;60(5):201-3. And psychology research found that adding natural elements—such as sunlight, green plants, and physical movement—to the workplace can boost employee health, happiness, and productivity Evolution in the office: how evolutionary psychology can increase employee health, happiness, and productivity. Fitzgerald, CJ and Danner, KM. Department of Psychology, Oakland University. Evolutionary Psychology, Dec 20;10(5):770-81. How’s that for some positive energy?
The feng shui expert also adds that adding real plants enhances any office energy by naturally cleaning the air, reducing stress, and improving communication. "Bamboo, Boston ferns, English ivy, and rubber trees are great go-to options. Including a couple images of supportive family members or other individuals who inspire you is another great energy booster."
Symbolic for good luck and success due to their innate resilience, strength, and ability to grow quickly, the lucky bamboo plants attempt to balance the five natural feng shui elements in the home or office: wood, metal, earth, water, and fire. These five elements are represented, respectively, by the plant, glass vase or coin, rocks, water, and red ribbon. Lucky bamboo plants can be planted as stalks or grown into beautiful shapes such as pyramids.

The colors that you choose for your walls are also important in feng shui for offices, and they will ultimately depend upon the line of work that you are in. For example, if you work in a medical office or an environment in which you will be greeting anxious clients, you should use calming colors, such as blue or green, on the walls. Businesses that are fast-paced and environments that deal with a lot of deadlines can also cause you to become frazzled, so you want to use calming colors on the walls rather than white, which can be a stressful color choice. And to build positive relationships with clients in a professional business setting, you should employ earth tones, such as terra cotta.

If your office is extremely irregular, you can have inexplicable setbacks and continuous frustrations at work. If you can’t switch offices, you can apply the special nine green plants cure: Add nine healthy new plants to your space all on the same day. The plants should be purchased new for the purpose of this cure. If convenient, you can place the plants near particular irregularities in the room, such as strange angles, posts, cramped areas, and so on. Otherwise, just stick them where they fit best. For full results from this cure, visualize that your job and career are going very well.
Start by considering how you can introduce the five elements of Feng Shui—wood, fire, earth, metal and water—into your space. Incorporating moving water into the workplace helps add a natural component to a room and is said to pool positive energy that ultimately brings success. Managers can incorporate a fountain in their workplace to improve wellness and promote biophilic design. Fountains that are placed in northern facing portions of the room are said to improve prosperity—entrances and exits are also important areas to consider when positioning water elements.

Feng shui (pronounced "fung shway") is the ancient Chinese practice of arranging physical objects to attract positive energy. It’s based on the idea that everything in a person’s surrounding environment affects his or her inner life. Feng shui practitioners believe that the placement of objects in a room, building, or other space will affect the flow of chi (life force or essential energy) within the space. If there’s good chi flowing, whoever’s in the space will get a boost of positive energy. Pretty sweet, right?

North is the controlling direction and whenever opposed by any other direction; the North is said to always win.
