De-cluttering is not directly included in the ancient principles of Feng Shui, but it is often mentioned due to its effect on energy within a space. Clutter in the office can negatively impact your staff's energy and workflow and impede performance. On the other hand, having a clean, clear desk can help employees stay focused on the tasks at hand. Keeping the office clutter-free promotes productivity, ensures the space is presentable to clients and comes with the added benefit of freeing up more usable space in the office.
Wealth and Prosperity The back left corner of the desk represents prosperity. Target this space to attract money and abundance. It’s a great place for a plant, but if your green thumb is more on the brown side, consider placing a valuable item (such as a crystal vase or jar of change) in this corner. This could also be a good spot for a (well-functioning) computer.
Be very careful when positioning your office plants feng shui. Certain directions, such as the north, southwest, Northwest, and northeast can be weakened by a strong wood element. Therefore, only moderate amounts of plants are recommended for these areas. However Bagua areas nourished by the wood element, such as the east, southeast and south are wonderful areas to place plants if you want the best positive chi.
Symbolic for good luck and success due to their innate resilience, strength, and ability to grow quickly, the lucky bamboo plants attempt to balance the five natural feng shui elements in the home or office: wood, metal, earth, water, and fire. These five elements are represented, respectively, by the plant, glass vase or coin, rocks, water, and red ribbon. Lucky bamboo plants can be planted as stalks or grown into beautiful shapes such as pyramids.
And, of course, because feng shui is all about energy, there is certainly a lot of emphasis on the actual energy of the plants, starting with their specific look and feel to one of the most important factors - their overall health. Having a popular feng shui plant such as the lucky bamboo, for example, struggling to survive, will be quite bad feng shui as compared to another plant with absolutely no specific feng shui reputation but with a vibrant, alive and joyful energy.
The wood element colors of green and tan (light browns) are ideal for an east (health luck) or southeast (wealth luck) office since the wood element governs both sectors. In addition, wood fuels fire, so be sure to add splashes of green and brown in a southern office. You may decide to go strictly with these colors for a southern office décor. Blue and green are good color combinations for east and southeast since the water element (blue) nurtures wood (green).
When you work in a cubicle type office setting - which means that your office set-up cannot be changed - you have to pay even more attention to creating (and keeping) good energy throughout your day at the office. While you might not be able to move your office desk into a feng shui commanding position or face your lucky feng shui directions, but there are still many ways to improve the energy of your workspace.
