Bamboo is a plant that is abundant in Asia and grows very quickly. It represents upright and honest growth, as well as flexibility and adaptability. Since the bamboo plant does not flower or fruit, it’s lifespan is long and simple. And because it is hollow, bamboo also symbolizes an empty heart of humbleness. I love the fact that in western culture, lucky bamboo has also become a symbol for the green sustainability movement. Lucky bamboo is not technically bamboo, but it looks very similar, is super easy to take care of, and represents the same thing symbolically.

Thanks, Victor! The kitchen is in the front of the house and the house does actually face northeast. If the kitchen is not “draining away career luck” per what I read, what feng shui elements can enhance career? Interestingly, our front door opens to a split staircase, i.e., the right hand stir case going up to the main living area and the left hand stair case going down to the basement.

The FIVE ELEMENTS (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood) work best when blended together in a harmonious way inside your home. Today, we are focusing on the element of wood (a.k.a plants, flowers, trees, bushes, etc). Not only do they help to spruce up the overall ambiance, they are also scientifically proven to reduce stress, purify the air, improve learning, compassion, speed up the healing process, memory, and communication!
Gordon also adds that where you put your plants can have an impact on your mental clarity and suggests understanding your home's bagua map (aka feng shui's floor plan to bringing good intentions to your home). "Plants are more at home in some areas such as health and family, or wealth and reputation," she shares. "They are less at home in other areas, such as creativity, mentors, career, self-knowledge, or love and marriage." Ready to bring the right intentions into your home while clearing the air and practicing your green-thumb skills?
Imagine the desktop divided into a nine-part grid, as in the bagua map shown above. Choose several areas of your life that could use a little boost, and use the following tips to attract good energy to those areas. Each section is associated with a color, and you can use objects of that color if you have them. Just don’t go overboard—remember, clutter blocks creativity, so at least 50 percent of the desktop should be clear at all times. Don’t focus on all nine sections; instead, select two to three priorities.
Good air purifying plants are a must for any workspace! You can choose a beautiful vibrant plant with a stunning pot, for example, in order to maximize its effect on your desk. Crystals are also a very popular feng shui cure, and there are many crystals that are suitable for your office. Various images can be targeted to specific goals, and so can specific items that you have a special connection with.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that focuses on balancing the elements of a space and creating an environment where energy, or "chi", flows through a dwelling and has a spiritual effect on the inhabitants, bringing a sense of calm and harmony. There are several design choices that reflect Feng Shui principles. Managers looking to switch things up in their offices should consider implementing Feng Shui elements to improve the overall layout and resulting energy of their workplace.
"Going with an all-neutral theme can be beautiful and elegant," says Benko. "Just remember these two tips: An all-neutral palette feels richer and more balanced if you mix textures, such as a nubby throw, a course jute rug, a smooth stone-topped coffee table and a furry sheepskin rug. Think in layers. Adding in metallics kicks it all up a design notch and delivers a polished feel to the atmosphere."
It gives best results in the loose soil with a lot of drainage holes and hence, while planting, ensure that the pot has enough drainage facilities. Keep watering the plants regularly without fail. In between the watering, look after the fact that avoids drying of the top soil.  As it prefers indirect sunlight, people should keep the plant away from the direct sunlight. It requires the temperature between 65 to 70 degrees to grow well.
When you work in a cubicle type office setting - which means that your office set-up cannot be changed - you have to pay even more attention to creating (and keeping) good energy throughout your day at the office. While you might not be able to move your office desk into a feng shui commanding position or face your lucky feng shui directions, but there are still many ways to improve the energy of your workspace.
