These are firm rules like “no computer in the bedroom” or “no cell phone close to the bed”, and definitely “no TV or exercise equipment in the bedroom”. Why? Mainly because they create high EMFs for which you pay dearly (often without understanding why you are not feeling well). They also slowly but surely destroy all the goodness you want to have in your most intimate space — the energy of genuine love, deep connection and sexual healing.
Most feng shui experts believe that all electronics should be banned from the bedroom. Marks agrees, noting, "I want to say a special word here about televisions. Get it out of the bedroom! You're inviting strangers into your bedroom every time you turn the TV on, bringing that often harsh outer world into your private chamber. Perhaps more importantly, you are distracting yourselves from each other."
Mirrors are the absolute must have feng shui wealth magnet for so many reasons! They bring more light, joy and the energy of the water feng shui element into any space. Mirrors also create beautiful pathways for new and joyful opportunities, just be sure to go for the best mirrors you can find; the ones that your heart adores and your room looks good in. Golden framing is obviously the best choice for a mirror as a wealth feng shui cure.
In feng shui, the area connected to your money, or financial prosperity and abundance, is the Southeast area of your home or office. This is the classical, or traditional feng shui school way to define your money area. In the Western, or BTB, feng shui school, the money area is the upper left area of your space as viewed from your home's floor plan.
Feng Shui actually isn’t that hard to practice. The more you do it, the better you get. You learn to develop a sense of visible and invisible energies which have an effect on you. Try to learn as much as you can, because it will help you apply Feng Shui in the most effective way. (some good book suggestions at the end of this article). In your studies, you’ll find there are two types (or schools) of Feng Shui: Compass and Form.
Considering the quality of the air in your bedroom is the best place to start. There is no chance of good Feng Shui in your room if you are breathing in stale air and pollutants. Most of us spend a lot of the day in a stuffy office, or walking the polluted streets of the city and breathing in other people’s odours on cramped public transport. Not a nice thought, I know. So we should try our best to make sure we are inhaling clean air when we sleep and when we unwind in the heart of our homes, the bedroom.
A woman took one of my classes on the feng shui bagua, and as a result she put a fountain in a corner of the large master bedroom, which was also the Money Corner of the whole house. Her husband pooh-poohed the idea, but within a week their coffee shop reached the daily sales goal they had set for it, but had never quite made. A few days later they exceeded the goal. The wife thought she’d have some fun with her previously doubting husband. She said, “I think you’re right. I think the fountain had nothing to do with our record-setting days. I’m going to remove it.” “Oh, no you don’t!” was his response.
Next, be sure to remove all photographs of your children, parents, and pets from your bedroom. After all, do you really want them “watching” you in bed? Instead, display a current photo of you and your spouse/partner doing something fun or romantic. If you aren’t in a relationship right now, display an image that represents how it will feel when you find that special someone. Then, place a pair of night tables in your bedroom, because for couples this encourages equality in your relationship, and for singles it invites a partner into your bedroom.
Originating in China, Feng Shui is an ancient art and science going back as far as 3,000 years. It was widely believed in ancient China that the energy of a land had the power to make or break a kingdom. The ancient Chinese used Feng Shui to identify safe dwelling places for families to flourish and to determine the best burial sites for relatives. In addition, the core concepts of Feng Shui were consulted to determine where to site palaces, government buildings and other public monuments. Whole cities in Chinese have been designed and built around the core teachings of Feng Shui. So this is an art and a science taken a little more seriously than just how to decorate your home.
In a practical world, televisions and laptops are often a necessary evil in your sacred bedroom space. It's impossible to get away from technology, so a compromise solution is to place your TV in an armoire or another cabinet that can be closed when you're finished watching TV for the night. Close your laptop when not being used and store inside a nightstand or drawer. That way, they are at least out of sight and your space while you rest.
When considering feng shui for creating money and prosperity, remember that purple is the color of wealth. Green’s good too—think of the greenback dollar. Red and blue are also good colors for the Wealth Corner. You certainly don’t have to use them all; I hope that you don’t—the result could be an eyesore. Pick one or possibly two of the colors that you think would look good together in the far left corner of your space and use rich tones of that color. If you’re planning to paint a wall or two anyway, the glory of paint is that it costs no more to add some pigment. Then you’ve got a nice big dose of the right color in your feng shui Money Corner. Consider giving it a try. Live with the right color in the right area for six months, and you’ll probably love the result so much that you wouldn’t consider painting over it.
Get rid of clothes you no longer wear. Go through your closet and drawer and remove all of the clothes you haven't worn within the last year. Donate these clothes or pass them on to a friend or relative if they can still be worn. Even though you may not see the old clothes, keeping them in your bedroom may prevent you from embracing new opportunities.
Since energy enters through the main portal (read: your front door), you don't want to have it shoot straight up the stairs, says the feng shui expert. Remember how you envisioned the chi as a guest? When you invite a visitor into your home, it would be weird for them to head straight to the fridge or the bedroom, right? Instead, you want them to linger in the common area.
