"Not a single thing!" Brophy says. Because every item has its own energy, the more stuff that's piled under the bed (even if it's just extra bedding!), the less space there is for your own energy to pass through while you sleep. This can be a tough one, especially if you're lacking in the square footage department, but Brophy swears this is helpful to everyone, and particularly recommends it for people who have difficulty sleeping.
Some Feng Shui experts state that you should avoid plants in your room because plant energy is focused on growth and upward movement. However, there is also the school of thought that plants can create a serene and relaxing environment. There are valid arguments on both sides of the coin for this matter. If you prefer to have plants in your bedroom, you should keep them small and not use more than two or three. Remember, clutter is detrimental to positive energy.

Our house has the main door located in the north east and upon entering its a large living room. However, on entering, on the right we have our shoe cupboard and we have been told that this brings negative energy. However, we cant change the position of the cupboard. Someone told us to place a feng shui crystal tree on the shoe cupboard. Would this help? Thanks!
The first step to creating a calm, relaxed environment is making sure your surroundings are clean and clutter-free. Do a deep clean and pull everything out of your closet, vacuum under the bed, and force yourself to get rid of stuff you don't love. "Evaluate what's around you and allow yourself to streamline," Brophy says. "If you have clothes you know you'll never wear again, give them to charity. Don't let them take up your energy."

The bedroom is one of the most important rooms in the home, according to feng shui, because it's where we seek restoration, balance, and peace. It's also the place of dreams. In feng shui, the items you place between your mattresses have an energetic association with your intentions. So yes, you can make money (or find true love) in your sleep. Use sensual fabrics and fluffy pillows to promote relaxation and don't store things under your bed — shoes, suitcases, books, pictures, and files are too energizing for restful slumber.
Everything you place in your bedroom has a profound effect on the flow of chi energy. You want to ensure auspicious energy flows easily between the bedroom door and windows. By keeping this natural pathway free of clutter and large pieces of furniture, such as chairs and armoires, you'll prevent stagnant chi and enhance all activities that take place inside your bedroom. Marks' last bit of feng shui advice for your bedroom is to "please understand that there's no such thing as 100 percent perfect feng shui. Use these principles to do the best you can with what you have and resolve to enjoy your home and your life!"

If you look for it, Benko says, "symbolism is constantly bombarding us on an everyday basis. From literature to traffic signage to movies, we're always being guided by symbolism. In our homes, it's enhanced even more, because we are creating these intimate environments that most often represent our fears and challenges." Often, we unwittingly reinforce the challenges in our lives by having their symbols in our space.
